Company Presentation:

In the words of Oriano Mercante:

“I prefer red wines. Our whole business is born of my personal intolerance to red wines which, while very good, and purchased directly from the farmers who made them, were too elaborate, leaving me feeling sleepless and uncomfortable.

“For this reason, several years before acquiring our own vineyard, I was already buying Rosso Conero grapes and making wines for myself, my friends, and my family. Until 2003 we used our own wine-press, an old family possession which is now defunct and on display in our winery.

“In 1999, the vineyards adjacent to our home went on the market, and with them, the rights to produce Rosso Conero DOC. The old farmer selling his land assured us that the vines, planted as many as 20 years before, produced excellent grapes.

“We jumped at the chance to buy this land, and have now been working at full capacity since 2004. Our philosophy is unchanged: we want the least possible interference in our wine-production, to preserve the natural characteristics of the wine. We obtained organic certification in 2003.

“Today we produce Rosso Conero DOC and Organic Conero DOCG for ourselves and for everyone else who enjoys it. Our wines are natural, full-bodied and beautifully colored. See for yourselves!”

RODONIA

Rosato Marche IGT

Made from Organic Grapes

We grow the grapes for this rosé wine in the province of Ancona, in an area called Finestre Rosse di Camerano. The grapes are optimally exposed so as to receive sunlight until sunset. We practice organic cultivation methods, and are rewarded with grapes of rare vigor and beauty. We use Sangiovese and Montepulciano grapes, which are fermented for just a few hours, so that the resulting wine is young, brilliantly colored, and of an unbeatably genuine taste.

Harvesting takes place at the end of September. The must stays in contact with the grapeskins in steel tanks for approx. 18 hours; after separation (without pressing) of the “mosto fiore,” fermentation continues at 18 degrees Celsius for ten days. No sugar or must is added. Not aged in barriques. Filtered with bentonite. No chips. Less than 80 mg/l of sulfites. No other substances of any sort are added. The wine is ready for consumption two months after harvesting.

SUMMANO

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC

Only in the hills of the Castelli di Jesi are there the particular conditions necessary for the optimal growth of Verdicchio grapes: the favourable climate, the proper soil type, and especially, the constant breezes that guard against the formation of too much moisture on the vines. Also, the vineyards’ exposure is such that the vines receive sun until sunset, and the plants are harvested in a manner respectful of their natural characteristics.

This wine is aged in steel barrels and has an intense, vivacious coloring. Its taste is genuine and sincere; it is suited best to those who love a natural product that has had no contact with wooden barrels.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS:

COLOR: Soft straw-yellow with greenish highlights which turn golden as the wine ages.

BOUQUET: Delicate and fresh, with a fragrance of fruit and flowers, with a hint of bitter almond.

FLAVOR: Fine, dry, harmonious, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

ALCOHOLIC CONTENT: 11.5 %

TOTAL ACIDITY: 4.5

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 10 – 12 degrees Celsius

FOOD PAIRINGS:

Principally fish, but also appetizers, white meats, boiled meats, mushrooms, truffles, and fried vegetables. Also goes well with more elaborate dishes that require a wine of strong personality.

AVAILABLE FORMAT: 750 ml bottles

Azienda Agricola Bruscia
Company Presentation:

Located in the hills of the Pesaro-Urbino province, just a few miles from the Adriatic sea,
our company produces wine from organic grapes (our vineyards are certified organic).

We adhere to organic agriculture in order to respect nature rather than polluting it.
We prune our vines by hand and pick away inferior grapes because for us,
quality always comes before quantity!
We also harvest our grapes by hand, in several phases, in order to best judge the time of optimal readiness.

As soon as they’re harvested, the grapes are immediately processed using ultra-modern wine technology.
New wines are refined in oak and steel barrels, and the aging process takes place
in a temperature-controlled area far from lights, sounds, and vibrations.
We bottle the wines ourselves,
and we welcome visitors to our company (though we prefer that you call ahead).

We at the Bruscia Agricultural Company have spent 40 years dedicating ourselves to this work,
guaranteeing superb-quality DOC wines to all our customers.
Our vineyards have grown, and we’ve attained equilibrium between traditional,
organic grape cultivation and refined, up-to-date production techniques.

Our most precious asset, these vines native to the Marche, organically cared for,
are the wellspring of our delicious wines which we invite you to enjoy.

Azienda Agricola SGALY

The story of Sgaly begins at the end of the 1800’s, when Grandfather Antonio Sgalippa, in his modest home in Monte Vidon Combatte, lovingly cultivated his grapes that were the pride of his daily life.

Grandfather’s descendants Mario and Rosa Sgalippa, in two adjoining estates in the towns of Ortezzano and Monterinaldo created the foundations of today’s company, SGALY.

The company now extends over twenty hectares; ten of these are specialized vines divided into two distinct sections. One section is located on a ridge between Ortezzano and Monterinaldo; the other, in the town of Valdaso (a section of Ortezzano), is also the location of a new cantina where the grapes are processed.

This red wine is the result of a scrupulous selection of Montepulciano and Barbera grapes of our oldest and sunniest vineyards, overlooking the ancient Roman sanctuary located in Cuma (in the vicinity of Monterinaldo). After a long period in steel containers, the wine continues its maturation period for at least a year in small oak barrels and then for six more months in the bottle. Cuma goes very well with roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Serve at 18 C°
